In the decades of his scientific life, N.N. Brushlinsky has published more than 350 scientific papers - monographs, books, textbooks, manuals and articles - 70 of which are published abroad in countries like Australia, Great Britain, Germany, USA, Yugoslavia, etc.
It is with great sadness that the Team of the Fire Statistics Center is pleased to announce that, February 1, 2024, the founder of the CTIF Statistics Center, Prof. Dr. Nikolay Nikolayevich Brushlinsky, passed away in Moscow. He initiated the Statistics Centre together with President Gunnar Haurum in the early 1990ies.
After the publication of the announcement of Professor Bruschlinsky's death at age 90, the Center for Fire Statistics of CTIF received a wave of international sympathy. The request was made to provide an overview of the most important publications.
Dr. peter Wagner, CTIF Center for Fire Statistics
We will try to comply with this request. Below we have summarized the most important publications from our subjective point of view. In doing so, we have only concentrated on the book publications. In addition to the title of the book and the publisher, we have indicated the year of publication and the respective language.
As far as is known, the respective ISBN number has been added. Please note that the individual publications may be no longer available in bookstores, as the circulation was usually not very high. We have only added a note for those books where there may still be leftovers.

Over the past two years, the authors of the book have prepared a number of official materials, which have been published in several scientific and practical journals both in our country and abroad (Great Britain, Germany, etc.). Since all these materials, which were kindly received by specialists, consistently supplemented and developed the topic of studying the problem of fires on earth, it was decided to collect them all in the form of one book, correcting the previously made inaccuracies and adding the latest statistical data.

The statistical data in these reports are based on official data from every country that provided data for each respective year. No attempt has been made to limit the calculations to countries that provided data for all or most years or to compensate statistically for changes in the participating countries (or cities). Therefore, readers should use caution in interpreting these results. An apparent trend up or down may be based more on the movement in and out of the database of a very large country or a shift in the fraction of included populations residing in high-rate versus low-rate countries rather than real change in fire experience or fire risk but rather Readers should also be aware that every country has its own methods of data collection and analysis of fires, fire deaths and fire injuries. These methods can change over time in individual countries, and this also can affect the results, as can changes in national boundaries.

About: Nowadays, governments are more often than not confronted with crises that are so unforeseen (i.e., the 9/11 attacks), so unexpected in nature or in extent (i.e., the SARS and H1N1 pandemic outbreaks, the Indian Ocean tsunami or Hurricane Katrina) and with such extensive social and economic effects that they may seem almost impossible to deal with. Yet, the successful management of these forms of crisis is possible.
As prior experience has demonstrated, success in limiting the effects of major hazards on people and property relies not only on the active involvement and effective coordination of a variety of actors at different levels of state governance, but also on the preparation and the ability to react rapidly, efficiently and effectively to unexpected events. Ensuring that national authorities have the right technical instruments (reformed risk, crisis and disaster management systems, and an adequate institutional framework) for managing disasters is of critical importance for the success of such a venture. However, as this book intends to show, human capital remains the most important factor in this equation.
In this book, the CTIF Centre of Fire Statistics has contributed the following chapters: Chapter 1. Problems of Fire Safety in the Modern World (pp. 1-66), Chapter 7. Modeling the Process of Fire and Rescue Services Activities (pp. 181-304).
