Last week the Dubai Civil defence hosted a round table conference following COP28 activities on worldwide alliance on future joint approach of firefighters society regarding climate changes.Representatives of 34 countries were present as well as the CTIF International Association of Firefighters.
The #OneBillionreadiness initiative, started last year is meant to reach the goal of reach 1 billion of population with fire and safety hazards till end of 2026.
Milan Dubravac, president of CTIF gave his speech at the round table. He confirmed CTIF is fully supporting this Initiative and will contribute significant input to this Initiative.
The Dubai Civil Defence, under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has launched the "1 Billion Readiness" initiative, a global programme to train and educate 1 billion people on fire prevention and safety techniques from 2025 to 2027.
Led by the UAE in collaboration with 34 countries and 18 major firefighting organizations, the initiative aims to enhance global safety systems. A key component, the Hope Convoys project, will supply firefighting equipment and establish fire stations in developing countries to improve emergency preparedness and foster international cooperation.
The programme includes multilingual digital platforms for global awareness campaigns, offering certified training in partnership with the Global Wildfire Monitoring Center.
Locally, it will target individuals, schools, and organizations to expand its impact across all segments of society.
