CTIF UPDATE: The cancellation / postponing of Interschutz until 2022 could mean changes to the Delegates Assembly 2021, which was meant to be held during Interschutz in June 2021. Because of the ongoing Pandemic situation, it is currently unclear if a physical DA meeting can be held in June.
The Delegates Assembly for 2020 was held virtually on October 21, 2020, for the first time in CTIF´s 120 years of history,. It is now highly possible that the Delegates Assembly, at least in part, will be held virtually online for a second year in a row.
In October 2020 it was announced by the hosting country of Germany that the 2021 Delegates Assembly was planned to once again be arranged during Interschutz 2021, with safety measures in place to stop spread of virus.
However, because of the ongoing uncertainty the Interschutz fair has recently decided, together with their sponsors, to postpone for yet another year.
The cancellation of Interschutz may affect us in a way that is not possible for CTIF to arrange a physical meeting in June. Please not that there may be changes to the dates and format of our Delegates Assembly 2021.
If the pandemic situation has not stabilized considerably by spring 2021, Delegates Assembly may be held partially (or entirely) online again.
Even if the virus spread will be partly contained by June, some countries could still have travel restrictions in place, or experience other issues hindering delegates from participating physically by June. We also don´t yet know exactly how quickly, and how effectively, the COVID-19 vaccine will be implemented in all member countries.
In order to accommodate those unable to travel, it is possible that the date for DA will be pushed back to late summer or early autumn. It is likely that the event will be held online, or at least partly online with one or more groups of people gathering where it is possible.
The CTIF Office will communicate the new plans for Delegates Assembly as soon as the Executive Committee has assessed the situation and what the cancellation of Interschutz means for CTIF this year.
Please check upcoming CTIF newsletters and CTIF.org for updates in the beginning of the new year of 2021.
