A man died in a chemical accident on board a tanker ship off the Norwegian coast last Saturday. Another man was taken to hospital but died later despite medical treatment.
The accident occurred on a Malta-registered vessel, approximately 13 nautical miles off the Norwegian coast south of Ålesund, early on Saturday morning.
The men were found unconscious when working inside a tank on the ship and, according to the police, had inhaled the toxic gas hydrogen sulphide. Norwegian rescue helicopters brought the men to a hospital.
The man who died on Saturday was a Spanish man in the 70's. The second victim man was in his 40's and from the Philippines.
